rope 1948 was actually one of the most monumentous gay films in history and nobody talks about it. let me just go off here for a second. rope was based off a play rope’s end about a real life gay couple, leopold and loeb, who lived an eccentric sexual life (along with murder obviously, but that’s the plot of the film). the entire film prodded and skimmed at every border and surface of the censorship that forbid homosexual content in hollywood. the actor who played phillip was bisexual, the actor who played brandon was gay, some of the only music they play in the movie is from an openly gay composer, the whole fucking crew knew it was gay but weren’t allowed to say the word because of the censorship. it was directed and written to depict domestic gay life alongside the morbid plot. it literally blows my fucking mind that people don’t talk about this film. this movie didn’t get banned in loads of cities in america for depicting homosexuality just for everyone to ignore it that’s all i’m saying sis, also it’s a good film.
